FAQ
-
Backyard ultras take on many forms, but here’s ours: Every 30 minutes, all runners begin a new 2 mile loop. Finish within 30 minutes, recover until the next start, then head back out. The challenge is simple: go one more.
-
We aren’t doing a true “last man standing” format. The event will be capped at 12 hours, or 24 loops. If you run the whole 12 hours, it’s slightly over 48 miles.
-
Kind of.
Some runners will chase the win. Others may complete a few laps and call it a day. We designed this event to challenge yourself, meet other runners, and enjoy a unique day in the neighborhood. Cheer loudly, encourage often, and push yourself to do a hard thing.
-
Any runner that does not return in 30 minutes, or is not in the starting area when the next lap begins, is automatically eliminated. You can also quit whenever you want.
-
Finish all 24 loops and you’ll receive a Finisher medal/buckle. The first person to cross the finish line on the last lap will be crowned The Winner.
-
You should register anyways! This is a perfect setting to get your distance PR, or just have a good time. You can drop out of the race at any point.
-
Yes. We are still lining up sponsors, but we will have multiple levels of prizes for different levels of race completion. You’ll probably walk away with a Circle Coffee gift card if you run more than forty meters. Hard to say.
-
More info to come, but the route will start in Collins Park and run through Westboro Park before looping back to Collins.
-
It’s encouraged! We want this to be a fun neighborhood event. We hope to have a food truck present later in the day to keep you hangin’ around to cheer on the runners.
-
Each participant will have access to their own 10×10 area in Collins Park near the start/finish line. You can bring a tent, chair, cooler, etc. Whatever you need to keep on truckin.
We will have a general hydration station for all participants as well. There will be no aid stations out on the course.
-
Outside of the start/finish area, no. Participants are responsible for obeying all traffic laws and yielding to vehicles where necessary.
-
18+, unless you have written consent. Email hello@neighborhoodultra.com for more info.
-
Yes, probably. We’ll see. We’ll cancel (and refund) if we have bad thunderstorms or flooding in the park.
